photographsky - labrador park

as we were driving towards our next destination, we had a few encounters with some vehicles...

padded bus

minibus

labrador park was recently refurbished...as we found out when we reached...there's even a restaurant there now...called olive....not too bad...i didn't feel like taking pictures of the restaurant itself cuz it wasn't convenient...but here's the view...

olive restaurante view

we took a walk along the paths of labrador park...we saw a lot of scenery...

but as we were walking along the shore, we saw this couple who were obviously going to tie the knot soon...what we were wondering was...what the fuck was the photographer was doing. a water pump for a background? i know it's red and lucky and whatever...but...err...maybe i should have offered my services to the bride and groom instead...

anyway, it was fun just roaming around singapore taking photos. we're going to do it again one of these days. =)

photographsky - changi beach club

i took the day off today, so i decided to go on a photography trip with marvin. (i.e. get ready for a picture bombardment.)

it was raining in the west when i woke up today, so we decided that it was more prudent to go to the east side for better weather (i know...quite cock, but where else in the world can you say that???).

we ended up at:

changi beach club 1

the captions are pretty much self explanatory, so i'll let the pictures do the storytelling... =)

then we saw this great big monolith of a rock next to the jetty with a single sapling on it...with a lot of effort and sweat, i climbed on. i dubbed thee "the original one tree hill".

along the way back, we saw a tugboat and the tuggee...

a load of crap

as we headed towards the other direction...we saw a fucking huge jellyfish (dead already). or at least thought it was a jellyfish...and at least we thought it was dead...

we reached a point of decisions...

where we found this boat...this boat was destined to be like this ever since the stupid owner named it. how to sail when you're already drunk from the start??? btw, i thought that boats were supposed to have feminine names...i guess this boat deserved it's fate...

anyway, we had a lot of fun at the changi beach club...sweated buckets...good exercise...

gotta go meet blinkymummy for fireworks show already...late already. =)

i'll update more on sky and marvin's adventures later when i get back...

fat kid

a funny incident yesterday at my colleague's daughter's birthday party...we were sitting down inside his house about to eat the buffet lunch when we saw this fat kid sit down next to us. everybody started eating and everything was normal until:

fat kid: who's birthday is this ah?
moby: huh? hahahahaha...
colleague: it's mine.
moby: hahahahaha...
*fat kid doesn't get the joke and continues eating...*
colleague: you come here then you don't know who's birthday it is?
fat kid: my mother said it was someone's son's birthday lah...
colleague: huh? you sure you at the right party? i think that there's another party upstairs you know...this is the ninth floor leh...
moby: hahahahaha...
*fat kid oblivious to his talk and continues eating...*
colleague to colleague's mother: who's kid is that ah?
colleague's mother: har? you mean you don't know ah...i also don't know leh...stop joking lah!
colleague: if i knew i wouldn't ask you right...
moby: hahahahaha...
colleague: where's your mother?
fat kid: don't know.
colleague: where's your father?
fat kid: at home in pasir ris.
colleague: you started walking here since yesterday is it?
moby: hahahahaha...
*fat kid doesn't answer and continues eating...*

we never found out who the fat kid was...

as planned

the day went as planned. i attended my colleague's daughter's first birthday, but didn't meet any chics. gave her $30 for her birthday but she still wouldn't intro her friends to me. damn.

went for golf after that and hit some balls. the cute chic was there too. oh yeah, i forgot to mention that there's this cute chic in my golf class. she's not exactly chio material, but she's presentable...girlfriend material i would say. now if only her boyfriend would stop coming for all the classes. damn.

met up with marvin for dinner. we decided to go to marche at the heeren. marche is actually from switzerland...does anyone know why it's like a swiss thingy to have this as a symbol of swiss stuff?

mooooo 1

mooooo 2

we were both starving by the time we met. he had two chicken breasts, i had a ribeye steak (medium rare as usual), and we shared two rosties and a plate of wedges. talk about carbo overload.

dinner

oh yeah, we also drank a pint of erdinger each.

fluids

marvin showed me his camera too...konica minolta something or other...it was pretty cool. but he's gotta start learning how to take photos lah...focus!!!

skypic

there were a lot of cute chics around, but they were walking by too fast for us to take pictures of, so this is the only one that we managed to convince to take a picture with us:

aunty happy and marvin

in fact, aunty happy was quite concerned about marvin...she kept asking for his age, and whether he was old enough to drink his erdinger. i think it was just a ploy to find out if he was old enough to bring home. good thing i stopped him from revealing too much. muahahaha.

after dinner, we walked around a bit, checking out cds, chics and other chics...(cuz we decided that watching the fireworks together was a bit too gayish...and plus, it was already 8 plus by the time we finished dinner..the flash and bang show was over).

then we happened to see an old man and two golden retreivers along orchard road...we both love golden retreivers, so we stopped to say hello.

max is only 2 years old, but he's a big boy already! his tail was wagging so fast that the camera couldn't even capture it...friendly friendly dog. =)

max

this is rusty...who's 6 years old. he was probably a bit tired from the walk along orchard road, so he just laid back for a while. i have a feeling that he was called rusty-bin-relak in his past life. muahahaha.

rusty

their owner and i talked a while about cameras and whatnots, but it's just weird...finding the 3 of them along orchard...nice surprise. =)

walking the dogs along orchard road

we ended up at indochine wisma after going to play pool at far east shopping centre. the usual band was there. i said my regular hi's and wassups...then they played their usual songs...jeffrey (the one in the middle), has the best voice i've heard in the longest time. they're really damn good. blinkymummy, i'll bring you there some day so that you can draw inspiration for your band. =)

i came home after that.

i'm starting to feel more relaxed. weekends should be like this.

busy busy

gonna be another busy busy day...

going for my colleague's daughter's first birthday luncheon buffet party thingy. (haha. maybe i'll get to know some chics there.) i wanted to buy a present yesterday, but i didn't have time yesterday cuz i went out with jason, mel, wen yao and wayne...then i met jaime and her friends for some ice cold beer. busy busy.

after the buffet with young chics, i'm going off to the range. my instructor took 2 weeks off...i secretly think it's to recuperate from the inadequacies of my coursemates (charp excluded...at least he can hit the ball)....muahaha. anyway, now that he's back and refreshed, i expect some proper coaching instead of being left in one corner to practise my chipping and pitching while he repeats himself over and over and over again with the others (charp excluded of course). just listen and do lah! haven't you all learned enough from work? maybe that's why they call golf a businessman's sport. busy busy.

after roaming the range, i'm meeting marvin...haven't met him in eons. we used to work together at "nature's sunshine products" in wheelock place. some people you can instantly click with when you first meet them...especially if they're diehard liverpool fans too. anyway, we've been good friends...even after we both left nsp. we're probably going somewhere to watch the fireworks tonight...ooooo...sigh, no girl is like that one lah. busy busy.

i'll take pictures tonight (i know, it's been a while), so for the mobydickskies who are overseas or bunmming at home, don't fret, i'll make sure you all get to see the flash and bang tonight. haha. =)

busy

had another busy day at work today...till i decided that enough was enough. i needed a break. so after i handed in a proposal at singapore power building, i called up some friends to join in on the action, but alas, everyone was busy. i only managed to get jason and lee hsin to go to ice cold beer after that. we had our dinner and shit there....read about it on blinkymummy's blog if you're interested. don't have the strength to write about it.

was supposed to meet an old friend today after work. this girl that i had a major crush on when i was back in secondary school. her name is betty. she works somewhere behind the singapre power building, so i actually called her up after my appointment today, and arranged to meet her for dinner...but then she messaged me 10 minutes later to say that she didn't want to make me wait till 8pm (which is when she was supposed to have met me), so she postponed the dinner till next week...

betty was one of the few girls that i found attractive back in secondary school. the sentiment was shared amongst most of my "river valley high gang". i asked billy to come along, but he was too concerned about playing out his other friend whom he had already made plans with...so fuck that. anyway, it didn't happen...i'm supposed to meet her next thursday...

ice cold beer was ok...the dj was very obliging and played most of the songs that lee hsin requested for...but that was about it. we left at around 10. that's about it.

song of the wave

i was supposed to meet audrey for drinks at wine company tonight...but i was just too tired after work. sorry babe. i've been bogged down by work for the past few days, which is also one of the reasons why i haven't been blogging. alcohol's been my only solace for the past few nights.

i've been reading a bit too...(in order to distract myself from the real world...and to keep some form of sanity). some stuff that my parents and sister have at home in ntu. one of them is a compilation of poems. this is one of my favourites:

Song of the Wave

"Rolling, rolling, o'er the deep,
Sunken treasures neath me sleep
As I shoreward slowly sweep.

Onward peacefully I roll,
Ever thoughtless of the goal,
Sea-bells round me chime and toll.

There is peave above, below,
Far beneath me sea-weeds grow,
Tiny fish glide to and fro,

Now in sunlight, now in shade,
Lost within some ocean glade
By the restless waters made.

Pushing onward as before,
Now descry the distant shore,
Hear the breakers sullen roar;

Quicken then my rolling pace,
With glad heart I join the race
O'er the white-capp'd glittering space,

Thinking naught of woe or grief,
Dancing, prancing, like a leaf,
Caring not for cliff or reef.

Lo! black cliffs above me loom,
Casting o'er me awful gloom,
And foretell me coming doom.

O! that I might reach the land,
Reach and lave the sunny sand,
But these rocks on every hand--

Seem my joyous course to stay,
Rise and bar my happy way,
Shutting out the sun's bright ray.

I must now my proud crest lower
and the wild sea roam no more."
Hark! the crash and mighty roar,
Then the wave's sport life is o'er.

- Robert Frost

for those of you who actually bothered to read it...i hope you've derived as much wonder and awe from it as i have. for the others...well...you've just missed out on a brilliant analogy on the course of life. read it again. and again.

the verse that i liked best is the one about "thinking naught of woe or grief, dancing, prancing, like a leaf, caring not for cliff or reef."...reminds me of a time not too long ago...

i don't pretend to understand all poetry...in fact, some of them are really confusing and complicated. for those that i can relate to, or actually know what they're talking about, i feel a sort of excitement, astonishment...that someone knows what it's like...that the author is able to weave together such an extraordinary picture using just words. beautiful. you don't feel so alone after that.

i want to break free

"i want to break free....i want to break free....i want to break free from your lies you're so self-satisfied i don't need you....i've got to break free. god knows...god knows i want to break free."

this goes out to all those who have suffered from the lack of acknowledgement and total utter disrespect from your company. fuck them.

the corporation is only as good as the people in it. what if all of us just got up one day and resigned. my company would fucking fall flat on it's face. no sales staff means no income, no one to explain to the customer why it's a fucked up system, and no one to stick the blame to. i've dreamt of such a day...and woke up with yet another heavy burden on my chest.
