rain

i'm all dressed for work but i don't feel like going. it's raining again.

i remember there used to be a time when i loved rainy days. those were the times when i could laze in my university hostel room, with the air-con turned up and the quilt covers all around me. those were the times when i could listen to the raindrops pattering on the window sill outside, while i daydream of a better tomorrow. those were the times when i could vent my frustrations too, by going out onto the basketball court and slamming the ball against the backboard a million times cuz i failed my maths exam (the rain makes it seem more pathetic-looking).

but gone are those days of blissful youth...now i just want the rain and the storm clouds to go away. i need to go to work. i need to make money. i need to grow up.

happy birthday

yesterday night was leehsin's birthday party. she booked this private room at lollipop, and invited all her blinkymummy ah bengs to come along.

blinkymummy & bengs

i was pretty tired from taking public transport the whole day (i woke up at 7 plus ok!!!), so i just sat in one corner with a policeman...in case some ah beng tried to beat me up...haha.

last day

today's the last day that i'm gonna be driving...at least for a long while. i'm picking up my dad from the airport at 1240am...so i guess the last journey that i'll make is on the way back from changi airport. sniff sniff. i'll miss driving.

but then again, i can look forward to the pleasures of taking public transport once more!!! more time to look around at my surroundings, more time to check out the scenery, less temper tantrums, less money spent on petrol (do you know that for the month of july, i went to the gas stations to pump petrol 9 times???)...pros and cons lah...

but then again, i really like driving...i like the feeling of being able to go where i wanna go, as and when i feel like it. i liken it to staying out on my own...it's a nice feeling to have...this independence thing. i'm not reliant on other people pressing the stop button on a bus, and i don't need to stop at every single mrt station to let people get on and off...i'm free to go wherever i want.

but then again, there's alcohol. enough said. just that i hope my dad doesn't mind the long scratch along the side of his car too much...hmmm...i'm glad to be carless again i guess...knn...sigh.

crabbing!

as mentioned before in my previous post, we (my secondary school gang and i) decided to go crabbing today!

we reached sembawang park at around 7 plus...

sembawang park jetty

we packed dinner there, so as we were eating, we took a long and hard whiff at the surrounding air...just to make sure that we were next to a shipyard. funky!

sembawang shipyard @ night

after we had our delicious take-away dinner in the superb ambiance, we started getting ready...

set up

actually it was only the second time that we have done something like this, so it took a lot trial and error again to get everything right. seow was the official bait-tier, so he tried a lot of weird ways to get it right...

but seow was getting such a thrill out of threading the lines through the fish's gills and onto the nets that no one was going to tell him to stop...

orgasmic seow

yummy!

how NOT to throw a crab net

eventually we managed to throw out our first net...

toss de virgin

after everyone settled down, moby caught the first crab!!! seow promptly christianed him "larry".

larry

a while later, moby and seow caught another one each!

larry, willy and jason(anti-clockwise from bottom)

and a while more later, billy joined in on the act...when something implanted itself into his net...

silicone dunnowhat

eventually, moby was filling up the bucket like nobody's business...

more crabs

btw, we had beer...

tiger cooler

so the crabs just kept coming...

more and more crabs

and coming...

more and more and more crabs

and coming...

many many crabs

and then finally billy caught one...

virgin billy 1

which he realised wasn't very big after all...

virgin billy 2

moby was catching everything...even fish started falling into his trap...

skyfish 1

and another...

skyfish 2

seow shows billy how to get the big ones...

monster(s)!!!

wowsers!

when we decided that it was time to go, we had...

too many crabs

so we let them go one by one...

free willies 1

all 21 of them...

free willies 2

even the monster...

free willy 3

which pissed seow off...

hungry seow

sigh. the good old days with good old friends...what else can a man ask for. oh yeah...and to the stupid stranger chic who kept asking stupid questions about what we were doing...the FISH is the bait...not the crab...sorry if we lead you to believe otherwise...but you asked for it...muahahaha.

bm's gift

since blinkymummy brought it up in her post yesterday, i've got a confession to make...i haven't thought of what to get her yet for her birthday...much less bought it. =P

i've been too busy cleaning the house and going out with friends and blogging.

i think that i'll just get her a light for her bedside table. muahahaha.

gonna go catch crabs now...update with pictures later!!! =)

room cleaning

i was clearing my house in ntu today when i found some stuff that i think are worth showing...

whenever my parents are overseas, they will normally send back some postcard or letter...just to let me know that they're doing well and stuff. more often than not, the cards will be inspirational in nature.

card from dad

inside, he wrote: "The recipe for success? Just double your rate of failures. Don't be afraid." i think it's this kinda encouragement that keeps me from going crazy sometimes. thanks dad.

i also found this picture fold-out brochure thingy advertising for an art show that my parents must have attended last time when they were in new york. it was for a "sergio furnari collection" exhibition. what strikes me about this picture, or rather, his sculptures, is that the characters seem so life like...as if they have emotions...and even souls.

wow. i'd like to see this guy's stuff in real life some day.

tired...

shitty day at work, coffee with leehsin, haircut at le salon, shopping at heeren, drinks at winebar...
