misery

i'm listening to:

they say misery loves company
we could start a company
and make misery, frustrated incorporated
i know just what you need
i might just have the thing
i know what you'd pay to see

put me out of my misery
i'd do it for you, would you do it for me?
we will always be busy, making misery

we could build a factory, and make misery
we'll create the cure, we made the disease
frustrated incorporated, frustrated incorporated

i know just what you need
i might just have the thing
i know what you'd pay to feel

put me out of my misery
suicide kings and drama queens
forever after happily making misery

did you satisfy your greed, get what you need
was it only envy, so empty

frustrated incorporated...

i'd do it for you, would you do it for me?

charpsky models

sometimes the best business ideas can come from anywhere and anyone...even on msn with your buddy, charp:

charp: hey, have u ever thought about going to north / western china for a holiday?
moby: north maybe...as in shanghai...my bro was there for a while...but i didn't manage to meet him...
charp: ever thought about the fact that there are russian / chinese mixed women there? and ever wondered how they look???
moby: hahaha...you can tell me when you find such women in china when you get there ok?
charp: not me lah...
moby: i'm sure that they're bound to be some in the ktvs there...
charp: my friend went to harbin for holiday before...
moby: and then?
charp: came back, and said that the women there are stunning...
moby: well done!
charp: and that they are damn poor there...
moby: oh ok...then?
charp: can u imagine??? somebody should go there and set up some model agency!
moby: that sounds like a business in the making...
charp: i think i'll take a weekend trip up there to do some "recruitment". hehehe.
charp: u can be my QA manager...do sampling checks.
moby: haha...ok..."charpsky models"...cool...sounds good already.
charp: hahaha...ya, that even sounds russian.
moby: hahaha...yeah lah...
charp: if u pronounce it charps-ky...hahaha...
moby: i know lah! that was my intentions when i thought of that name, my dear fellow genius...
charp: right.
moby: anyway, send me the photos when you do get a chance to go up...btw, this is going on my blog...hehe.
charp: wat is going on ur blog?
moby: our conversation just now about charpsky models...
charp: charpsky models? hahaha...that'll be excellent...
moby: hahaha. yeah man.
charp: but wait...we shouldn't advertise it...
moby: later someone copy it right?
charp: otherwise pple will steal the idea from us!!!
moby: yeah man...but nevermind...i'll copyright it now by saying that it's copywritten already. there...it's in black and white. done.
charp: u put it there...but put a disclaimer. that whoever does it has to share 50% of profit + hot girls. excellent.
moby: haha...excellent
charp: the pen is mightier than the sword...
moby: yeah, your sword at least. hehehe.
charp: ya ok, if u need to believe that to make ur existence non-futile...
moby: i only let you have your name in front cuz you always cum first...hahaha...
charp: well, at least i know i can get it up...
moby: they don't call me sky for nothing...hahaha...
charp: haha...ok, obviously u've gone thru this argument before so i shall not bother.
moby: muahahaha.

i can't wait for the first batch of pictures. anyone wanna help me with the screening? i'll even let you buy duplicate copies of the charpsky models profiles for your "personal use". after all, a business has to start somewhere with someone right? muahahaha...

cheers. =)

together

i got an email the other day from a colleague..he forwarded me some stuff which i almost deleted cuz i thought it was spam. fortunately though, i opened the file...and nearly cried in the office...

here's a little background...

"From Sports Illustrated, By Rick Reilly

I try to be a good father. Give my kids mulligans. Work nights to pay for their text messaging. Take them to swimsuit shoots. But compared with Dick Hoyt, I stink.

Eighty-five times he's pushed his disabled son, Rick, 26.2 miles in marathons. Eight times he's not only pushed him 26.2 miles in a wheelchair but also towed him 2.4 miles in a dinghy while swimming and pedaled him 112 miles in a seat on the handlebars--all in the same day.

Dick's also pulled him cross-country skiing, taken him on his back mountain climbing and once hauled him across the U.S. On a bike. Makes taking your son bowling look a little lame, right?

And what has Rick done for his father? Not much--except save his life.

This love story began in Winchester, Mass., 43 years ago, when Rick was strangled by the umbilical cord during birth, leaving him brain-damaged and unable to control his limbs. "He'll be a vegetable the rest of his life;" Dick says doctors told him and his wife, Judy, when Rick was nine months old. "Put him in an institution."

But the Hoyts weren't buying it. They noticed the way Rick's eyes followed them around the room. When Rick was 11 they took him to the engineering department at Tufts University and asked if there was anything to help the boy communicate. "No way," Dick says he was told. "There's nothing going on in his brain."

"Tell him a joke," Dick countered. They did. Rick laughed. Turns out a lot was going on in his brain. Rigged up with a computer that allowed him to control the cursor by touching a switch with the side of his head, Rick was finally able to communicate. First words? "Go Bruins!" And after a high school classmate was paralyzed in an accident and the school organized a charity run for him, Rick pecked out, "Dad, I want to do that."

Yeah, right. How was Dick, a self-described "porker" who never ran more than a mile at a time, going to push his son five miles? Still, he tried. "Then it was me who was handicapped," Dick says. "I was sore for two weeks." That day changed Rick's life. "Dad," he typed, "when we were running, it felt like I wasn't disabled anymore!"

And that sentence changed Dick's life. He became obsessed with giving Rick that feeling as often as he could. He got into such hard-belly shape that he and Rick were ready to try the 1979 Boston Marathon. "No way," Dick was told by a race official. The Hoyts weren't quite a single runner, and they weren't quite a wheelchair competitor. For a few years Dick and Rick just joined the massive field and ran anyway, then they found a way to get into the race officially: In 1983 they ran another marathon so fast they made the qualifying time for Boston the following year.

Then somebody said, "Hey, Dick, why not a triathlon?"

How's a guy who never learned to swim and hadn't ridden a bike since he was six going to haul his 110-pound kid through a triathlon? Still, Dick tried.

Now they've done 212 triathlons, including four grueling 15-hour Ironmans in Hawaii. It must be a buzzkill to be a 25-year-old stud getting passed by an old guy towing a grown man in a dinghy, don't you think?

Hey, Dick, why not see how you'd do on your own? "No way," he says. Dick does it purely for "the awesome feeling" he gets seeing Rick with a cantaloupe smile as they run, swim and ride together.

This year, at ages 65 and 43, Dick and Rick finished their 24th Boston Marathon, in 5,083rd place out of more than 20,000 starters. Their best time? Two hours, 40 minutes in 1992--only 35 minutes off the world record, which, in case you don't keep track of these things, happens to be held by a guy who was not pushing another man in a wheelchair at the time.

"No question about it," Rick types. "My dad is the Father of the Century."

And Dick got something else out of all this too. Two years ago he had a mild heart attack during a race. Doctors found that one of his arteries was 95% clogged. "If you hadn't been in such great shape," one doctor told him, "you probably would've died 15 years ago."

So, in a way, Dick and Rick saved each other's life.

Rick, who has his own apartment (he gets home care) and works in Boston, and Dick, retired from the military and living in Holland, Mass., always find ways to be together. They give speeches around the country and compete in some backbreaking race every weekend, including this Father's Day.

That night, Rick will buy his dad dinner, but the thing he really wants to give him is a gift he can never buy.

"The thing I'd most like," Rick types, "is that my dad sit in the chair and I push him once."

the power of love...never underestimate it.

cheers. =)

disability ability

have you heard of this show called "last comic standing"? it's something like "american idol"...except it's meant to be funny. go and surf youtube for more details.

anyway, i watched most of the stuff on the show already, and i just have to share this video that i saw...enjoy.

despite josh blue's so-called disability, i think that one of the best qualities of a man is the ability to laugh at oneself. i am extremely impressed with his humbleness and humour.

i think we all can learn a little something from this...cheers. =)

the princess and the toad

one day, a princess said to a toad,
let's be friends, friends till we're old.
the toad said ok, sure...why not,
so off they went, without a thought.

on the second day, the princess cried,
pain! please come here right by my side.
the toad said ok, sure...i'm here,
when you're in trouble, the solution is near.

on the third day, the princess weeped and mumbled,
don't leave me here, in case i stumble.
the toad said ok, sure...no fear,
what can't be solved with hope, my dear?

on the fourth day, the princess (fine and placated),
said: toad, i want to be elated.
the toad said ok, sure...no hurry,
the best will be coming, don't you ever worry.

on the fifth day, the princess demanded and groaned,
why you never call? why you never even phoned?
the toad said ok, sure...my mistake,
i'll try harder next time, just for your sake.

on the sixth day, the princess wailed and deplored,
sob, sob!!! you don't even love me anymore!
the toad said ok, sure...i'll try,
but princess, i'm one...i'm only one guy!

on the seventh day, the princess roared and demanded,
that the toad was owned, and was to be branded.
the toad said ok, sure...i'll hold,
was anyone around to see him explode?

moby: err...ok...
boss: and r, well...i think he'll be suffering quite a lot this year, so i'll give him something to look forward to next year...

boss: aiyah, don't like that lah...as long as you're getting the money, what for you care?
moby: different people look for different things boss...

boss: we'll see...

what the fuck. how motivating is that? i look forward to working for yet another year without any significant increment. that's just great...superb in fact. =|

photographsky - singapore botanical gardens

i went out with my dad today for one of our sunday walks...to the singapore botanical gardens again...

there are always photo opportunities every time i go there...it's a great place for amateurs like me... =)

i just realised that they have these lightning counter thingys on most of the tallest trees there...it's actually linked to a lightning rod at the top of the giants, connected via a metal wire...it counts the number of times the tree gets struck by lightning...

this lucky guy kena 4 times...electrifying stuff...haha.

anyway...back to the story (pictures)...

why don't you bring your dad out this coming tuesday? it's 爸爸节...in my books at least. hehe.

cheers. =)

planning

planning for anything is never easy. especially when other people are involved.

i like to plan my schedules...in fact, i love planning all the times, and the routes, and the itinerary. it doesn't have to be to perfection, as much as i'd like, but i need to have at least a clear idea of where i'm going, at what times, and who i'll be meeting. it's very difficult for me, more so on trips out to a foreign land, to just "go with the flow".

this doesn't mean that i'm inflexible...it just means that i like to have a good time at the place that i'm going, with some purpose, without having to worry too much about the other stuff.

but then again, sometimes, the fun and experience element starts with the unexpected. i guess we'll see how things turn out then huh? haha. cheers.
