hk escape

i'm looking for a cheap way to get to hong kong...preferably in early or mid august cuz my brother won't be there for that much longer...anyone got good lobangs to share? (btw, please don't bother to reply if you are going to suggest travel means other than by airplane hor)

i've never gone to hong kong before...it's been a place that i've always wanted to visit for some time now...what with the new disneyland, the better service, the excitable yet stressful uncles on buses and all...what's there not to see?!!

i believe that touring other countries and places can only widen my horizon by exposing myself to new cultures and people. without these insights, i think that i'd get more and more engrossed in the mundane routine that has ruled my life for the past 4 years of slavery (aka working life in singapore).

obviously, merely touring a place will not enable me to fully understand everything...it would probably just be a form of escapism...but it will at least give me a another glimpse of the world outside of singapore...

having said that though...hong kong was also a british colony in asia not too long ago...which leads me to wonder whether their people also claim seats in hawker centres with packets of tissue paper...i can't wait to find out...haha.

cheers. =)

i was planning to go so was looking around... cheapest is i think jetstar, return ticket with tax is $342...ie. if u go to their site and choose the cheapest rate (different timing flights different pricing)... but i'm not an exactly resourceful person... so maybe it will pay to scout around some more..

Stay at the hostels/budget hotels in Mongkok/Tsim Sha Tsui they're much cheaper than hotels and are conveniently located.About S$137 for 4 nights stay.Check them out.

disneyland... my tuition kid went and his mother was complaining that it's as small as Chinese Garden. Hahaha =_=

But the toilets are nice, and that's about all she remembered. Oh, and near the train stations.

Cheap flights to HKG = JetStarAsia, izzit?

There are guesthouses in Causeway Bay that are small, but clean. I stay there whenever I'm in HKG.

Noble Hostel and Wang Fat Hostel are practically next door to each other and they're both hella close to Causeway Bay MTR and there's a 24 hour Wellcome and a McD's across the street!

I tried some guesthouses in TST, were a bit cheaper but scuzzier. Pay the extra HK$20 a night and stay on HK side.

If you need some more HK anecdotes, hit my blog.

hi moby.haha first time commenting. but anyway. u can check out straits times. they have loads of advertisements.and now hONGKONG is very cheap!!! like cathay/china airlines only 200++. i m going hongkong too!!nxt wk. woohoo! but i bought my tics from jetstar at 283. there was a promotion recently.but it just ended like 2 weeks ago.

hotels wise, hong kong has the most expensive hotels. a 3 star hotel is also over 100 bucks. but its ok to book a budget hotel. because all hk hotel rooms are very small. haha! the others i don't know yet!hvent been there. next week will be my first time there too!!tell u when i am back! HEHE
